Get Started

Whether you’re new to WoKJ or a veteran of the original forums, a lot has changed with the new site design. To help you cut through the bureaucratic cogs of KJ’s quagmire I’m here to assist you in getting connected with the rest of the community.
If you haven’t already done so register with the site and create an account by clicking the “Register” link in the upper right corner of the page. Creating an account allows you to write your own content and customize who’s content gets tracked and displayed on your user page. Although you’re more than welcome to browse WoKJ as an unregistered guest, you won’t be able to write babbles or articles, follow other member’s content, create a personalized user page or rate your peers’ work. If you’re already a WoKJ forum member then you already have a user account ready and waiting, simply click the “Sign In” link and enter your forum login information.
Customize Your User Page
Once registered with the site you’ll be automatically directed to your user page. The user page is your virtual representation on WoKJ and displays all of your profile information as well as your articles and babbles. It’s also your ‘home base’ on WoKJ; from here you can write babbles and articles, keep track of your friends and customize your profile. Clicking on the “Settings” link in the upper right corner of the user page will allow you to upload an avatar, input profile information and change your filter preferences and default view settings. Your user page can be accessed from anywhere on the site by clicking on the “My Page” link at the upper right.
Get Connected
The user page appears differently depending on who’s viewing it. If another user is viewing your user page the content stream will only contain your work whereas if you are viewing your own user page (“My Page”) the content stream becomes more versatile, populating the feed with the babbles and articles of all the other users you are following.
Because of this functionality it’s important to get connected with the rest of the community, otherwise you’ll only be able to view content from other users on the WoKJ home page. We recognize the current shortfalls in user connectivity, especially since a Community page is still being constructed.
In the future we will be implementing changes to make it easier to find other users, but for now we suggest a “Follow first” mentality: follow a variety of users initially and then later unfollow them if their work isn’t up to snuff or simply isn’t your cup of tea. This way you’ll get exposed to a larger cross section of content while we work on ways to improve user visibility.
Provide Feedback
Whether it’s suggestions for site improvements, ratings on specific articles or a simple thumbs up or thumbs down on babbles, providing feedback to our development team and other users is what makes WoKJ work and what will drive traffic to the best user-generated content.
Remember we’re all in it together. By providing your two cents you can help make the World of KJ community stronger and more expressive.
